Apple, Dell, Intel Expect HDD Shortage to Have Drastic Impact on PC Market.

Although the high-tech market tends to recover quickly from almost all kinds of disasters and large manufacturers often try to reduce their risks, the flooding in Thailand and consequent potential shortage of hard disk drives will clearly affect the whole PC industry in the coming quarters. But while giants like Apple, Dell or Intel are concerned, they remain relatively optimistic.

Intel, the world's largest supplier of microprocessors on the planet, said on Friday that it was keeping an eye on a dynamic situation in Thailand that directly impacts that hard drive supplies, but expects existing stores of drives and unaffected sources to help keep the PC industry supplied.

"The PC supply chain has proven to be very resilient, as most recently demonstrated in the response to the earthquake in Japan," said Jon Carvill, a spokesman for Intel, reports Reuters news-agency.

New Ipad 2 Photos Leaked

A rear shell possibly from the second-generation iPad has been spotted at the 2011 International CES within the iLounge Pavilion. The shell, that has been been made by Gopod Mobile with the “iPad 2” and “128GB” logos won’t be on the upcoming iPad 2 but it shows what the upcoming design of the iPad 2 would look like. It’s been shown paired with an iPad 2-specific foldable rechargeable battery pack developed by the Gopod Mobile Company itself, and shows the device’s revised and redesigned curves, ports, and cameras placements; it is said by Gopod to represent the actual appearance of the as-yet-unreleased thinner and slightly smaller iPad. It is also expected by Apple to announce the iPad 2 on February 1st.

Mac App Store tops 1 Million App Downloads in Opening Day

Following its long awaited official opening yesterday, Apple has announced that the Mac App Store has seen more than one million app downloads in its opening 24 hours of trading.

Launching with over 1,000 free and paid-for apps the Mac App Store is available as a free download for all Mac OS X Snow Leopard users and features desktop and laptop friendly applications across a number of categories including Education, Games, Graphics & Design, Lifestyle and Productivity.

“We’re amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. The Cupertino based company’s big wig went on to add: “Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is.”

Following on from the hugely successful App Store that supplies content for the company’s iOS devices, the Mac App Store allows users to browse available applications via new a noteworthy header as well as staff favourites and current popular downloads.

Despite these staggering opening day download figures, the opening 24 hours of the Mac App Store’s existence was not entirely plain sailing for Apple with hackers cracking open the service and finding a devastatingly simple way of downloading paid-for applications without having to pay.

iPhone 5 design drawings leaked?

Antenna looks to have been moved, confirming Apple's plans to finally fix phone's killer flaw.

New design drawings of the iPhone 5 have apparently surfaced, showing off a very similar style to the current iPhone 4 model. The pics come on the back of a video earlier this week which showed new iPhone parts with the antenna breaks clearly moved to prevent ‘death grip’ issues.

Apple had the clip pulled from YouTube and doubtless Steve Jobs will be none too pleased to see Jony Ive’s scribblings for the next-gen iPhone hit the web too.

he drawings suggest the next iPhone will not be that far removed from the iPhone 4, with a subtle leap similar to the shift from the iPhone 3G to the 3GS. The new phone is expected to land this summer.

Iphone Alarm Clock Glitch Not Going Off

A glitch on Apple's iPhone has stopped its built-in alarm clock going off, leaving many people oversleeping on the first two days of the New Year.
BBC News website readers and tweeters have said the glitch has caused them to be late for work, miss flights planes and ruin other plans, here are some of their comments.

"Mine failed to go off this morning. I run a guesthouse and when I woke at 9am my 10 guests were waiting in the unprepared dining room for me! Not good at all." Padraic McDonagh, Galway, Ireland

This just seems to be another problem with the Iphone and hopefully the last they will have. Maybe the next iphone will be a little more up to scratch and a bit more reliable.

Obama Says That Steve Jobs Deserves To Be Rich

While at a White House press confrence, Obama talks about how people in America all have a chance of becoming rich if they come up with with right product.

"And something that's always been the greatest strength of America is a thriving, booming middle class, where everybody has got a shot at the American dream. And that should be our goal. That should be what we're focused on. How are we creating opportunity for everybody? So that we celebrate wealth. We celebrate somebody like a Steve Jobs, who has created two or three different revolutionary products. We expect that person to be rich, and that's a good thing. We want that incentive. That's part of the free market."
