Sony Will Attempt to Release PlayStation 4 Ahead of Xbox Next.

After failing to release its PlayStation 3 video game system at the same timeframe as Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony Computer Entertainment will do its best to launch the next-generation PlayStation 4 game console ahead of its major rival. As a result, the PS4 may hit the market earlier than the Xbox Next.

"I doubt [Microsoft] will be ready for launch [the next Xbox] in 2013.  Between Sony and Microsoft, we expect Sony to be first to market perhaps as early as 2013, but more likely in 2014.  There is still a lot of investment for both companies to recoup in the current generation," said Colin Sebastian, an analyst with RW Baird, in a brief interview with IndustryGamers.

This week it transpired that many industry players, including hardware and software developers, expect Microsoft Corp. to release its next-generation Xbox sometimes in 2013.

While it is still two years from now, one should consider that in 2012 Nintendo, who won the current console generation with Wii, plans to release its high-definition Wii U game console with innovative controller, which will automatically make the current-generation video game systems look outdated. Not surprising that both Microsoft and Sony will attempt to convince their customers not to get Wii U by revealing or leaking plans for next-generation PlayStation  and Xbox.

Sony Restores PSN Services Around the World

The drought is over.
Sony Saturday began its phased reintroduction of the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. The progression comes roughly one week after Sony missed its own projected deadline for the PSN restart. Since things kicked off during the weekend, Sony has restored PSN and Qriocity services to all of the United States and Canada.

Included as part of the restart is a mandatory software update that forces users to change their account passwords. This update was actually made available on Saturday, prior to the restoration, but Sony recommended people update in preparation for PSN being back online

Sony Lawyers Going To The Limits: Threaten To Sue Anyone Who Posts PS3 Jailbreak Code

As of Friday, Sony is threatening to sue anybody posting or “distributing” the first full-fledged jailbreak code for the 4-year-old PlayStation 3 gaming console.

What’s more of an extreme measure, the company is demanding that a federal judge order Google to surrender the IP addresses and other identifying information of those who have viewed or commented about the jailbreak video posted on the YouTube page. Sony is also demanding Twitter to provide the identities of a host of hackers who first unveiled a limited version of the hack in December (Referring to the fail0verflow team here)

Sony’s aggressive pretrial discovery demands come in its lawsuit against Geohot (George Hotz). The 21-year-old New Jersey hacker, who is well known in the jailbreaking community for making jailbreak programs for Apple’s iPhones, published the finished PlayStation 3 code and a how-to YouTube video last month. The code enables the Playstation 3 to play pirated and homebrewed games.

Sony Ericsson’s PlayStation Phone Reviewed, the Xperia Play’s Secrets Are All Out!

The Xperia Play (Or better known as The Playstation Phone) holds no more secrets.

A member of Chinese mobile forum ePrice was able to meet a friend who had acquired an Xperia Play handset, asking if he would be interested in taking a look at Sony Ericsson’s Android-based gaming smartphone. Wanting to know more, the guy travelled to Shenzhen and was treated with a full overview, capturing more high-resolution photos of the device and a demo video, writing a full review in the process.

The  Xperia Play will feature a 1GHz processor with the Adreno 205 GPU, it will have a 4-inch FWVGA screen that is capable of delivering a 854 x 480 resolution, a 5MP camera, noise cancelling dual microphones and dual speakers

This would run on Android 2.3 as no different as shown on the Chinese videos on the internet, and also, there is support for MicroSD, MicroUSB and there is a 3.5mm microphone jack.

We still have yet to know which games are supported on the Xperia Play besides the PS1 games support. Stay tuned for more info!

Info Leaked On The Playstation Phone Zeus

After the iPhone 4 leak, the PlayStation phone is perhaps one of the biggest leaks yet. A new video has surfaced which shows the phone running the PlayStation app, although the entire duration shows the phone running in Chinese you can still see that the directional buttons still can’t be used with games yet and that the load time of the Zeus is still a little slow when it is running “Dungeon Defenders”.

The video leak also helped shed some light on the new features of the phone, which are:

• 4-Inch display
• 5 MegaPixel Camera
• 512 MB of RAM
• 512 MB of ROM
• MicroSD Card slot
• Two Microphones
• A micro USB port

So far it is unknown whether the phone will have backward support of any kind, i.e whether it would be able to run old PSP games via memory card or emulated PS1 games and there are no achievement / trophy options like what Windows Phone 7 has on its XBOX Live App.
